Model United Nations
Model United Nations (aka, “Model UN”) is a simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, human rights, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model UN, students take on roles as foreign diplomat sand debate international issues in simulated conferences modeled after the United Nations Participants research a country, investigate international issues, debate proposals and amendments, deliberate wording and concepts, consult colleagues, coordinate positions, and then develop solutions to world problems. During a simulation, participants employ a variety of communication and critical thinking skills in order to represent the policies of their country. These skills include public speaking, small group communications, research, policy analysis, active listening, negotiating, conflict resolution, note taking, and technical writing.

They positively affect the lives of participants and prepare them to be better global citizens through quality educational experiences that emphasize collaboration and cooperative resolution of conflict. They envision a world comprised of civically engaged people who strive for peaceful, multi-lateral conflict resolution and equitable, sustainable human development.This program is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about government and debate. The conference provides a change for kids to develop their public speaking and research skills, through actually debates.
