About the BSA
The Boy Scouts of America, perhaps the most famous youth organization in existence in the United States and possibly the world, was formed in 1910 by Sir Baden Powell of Great Britain. In those 102 years from then to now, the BSA grew to contain 4.5 million current members across the nation, ranging from all different ages. The Boy Scouts of America focuses on leadership and survival skills, both in the wilderness and in urban life, which helps the children of the program develop as better individuals. The highest rank awarded by the BSA to a child, the Eagle Scout, is recognized by colleges and employers worldwide as a symbol of maturity, integrity and practicality.
Local BSA
The Chief Seattle Council (http://www.seattlebsa.org/) envelops most of the greater Seattle area and comprises of hundreds of troops, separated into 12 local districts. Many different children participate in this organization and they are of all various ages, making sure than no child with an interest in the activity is ignored. The Boy Scouts are split into three different categories, and there is also a Girls Scout group, specifically for females.
